More black Lego bricks.

Pretty well completed the pitched roof.

The next step is to fill in the gap between the pitched sections of the roof; and also to fit some garret windows.

Verdict: I'm very pleased with the decision to "go Lego". The strong blackness of the bricks coordinates with the black of the Eiffel Tower and the other backdrop buildings.

I'm sorry that I can't take photographs of the Samba group in action but it would be logistically difficult to do so and I would have to ask the permission of the other members and I'm not sure I want them knowing about this blog.

Anyway, we had our most successful performance to date at a community event in Barmulloch, north Glasgow - very sunny.

I guarded the drums while the others dashed off to the toilets.

 Three photos of the event.

Turning the corner - Lego wise.

Continued with the surprisingly difficult task of replacing the multi-coloured bricks in the pitched roof with all black ones. As soon as I remove a coloured brick, I cannot remember what its position in the roof was. Unbelievable absence of short term memory.

Existing multi-coloured roof.

Close up of the corner.

And with black replacements.

There are a few gaps to be disguised still.

The gaps aren't noticeable from a distance,

More Lego work.

Replacing the coloured bricks with black ones is more difficult than I'd anticipated. As soon as I remove 2 or 3 coloured bricks, I can't remember where they were positioned in order to replace them with the black bricks.

Anyway, I tackled one side of the roof.

Started on the left hand section.

Quite pleased with the effect. usually, I despise (strong word) those arrays of studs on top of completed Lego buildings, but on this occasion, serendipitously, the studs add a beneficial texture to the roof.

Lego has arrived.

3 different packs of black Lego bricks arrived today from 3 different suppliers - by Royal Mail. Quite a service, I must say.

I'll have to get cracking replacing the multi-coloured brick sections of the new pitched roof.

On the way home, cycled over the latest contribution to cycle tracks around Glasgow, a bridge over the Clydeside Expressway.

No sooner over the bridge than I heard an enormous crack! A puncture!

Near the scene of the puncture.

Tried pumping up the tyre but to no avail.

Had to walk back to Partick where a Cycle Repair shop fitted a new inner tube while I waited.

Excellent service for £10.

The shop in question.
