Heath Robinson - repairing PECO turnouts.

Decided to have another go at fixing the dislocated set of points.

But this time I sought a permanent solution by using needle and thread.

I'm sure such a practice would be frowned upon by the serious hobbyist - and maybe with good reason! But I couldn't think of anything else. Basically, I tied two loops of thread around the switch bar (which is physically connected to the offending blades) to restrain it from moving away from the hinge which retains (loosely) the blades.

It seems to have worked!

Chopin's Piano Concerto No 1:

If you like romantic classical music, then this must be one of the most popular pieces.

I have several versions on vinyl, CD and download, but intend adding this one to my collection by the much praised Romanian pianist Dinu Lipatti who died in 1950 at the age of 33 from Hodgkin's disease.

Finally, a Scottish schoolgirl has recently gained fame on the internet by publishing each day a picture of her school dinner.

So here is a photograph of my dinner from last night: 2 pieces of cod smothered in a jar of tomato sauce, served with cous-cous and washed down by a cheap red wine from Southern France.

Looks pretty gross, but tasted delicious. I've always liked mush.
